To keep residents and relief workers in Charleston, SC updated on conditions and road closures, J. Emory Parker with The Post and Courier created a live streaming map. The map automatically updates every 20 seconds and pulls data from several sources, including local police departments and crowd sourced reports.
This unprecedented flooding was caused by outlying storms from Hurricane Joaquin. On top of the rain, this weekend saw the 7th highest tide recorded for the coastal region. Charleston has been one of the hardest hit areas, with over 166 road closures and much of downtown inaccessible.
