It’s hard to believe how big an area of California was impacted by public safety power shutdowns this week.
L.A. Times data journalist Ben Welsh mapped where PG&E warned it may shut off power.
Ben made the map with data provided by Pacific Gas & Electric.
Southern California Edison has cut power to nearly 13,000 customers as of Thursday afternoon, with another 160,000 across eight counties being warned their power could be shut down, too.
Using data provided by SCE, the LA Times team mapped areas currently without power, and those monitored for possible shutoff.
