The last 100 meters of a package delivery can be super challenging. The best maps will guide a driver straight to the customer’s door versus wandering around a multi-unit apartment complex looking for a building. The right location context can save 30 seconds per delivery. In an eight-hour, 120-package shift, that adds up to an hour saved — or lost — per driver. With a fleet of 1,000 drivers, that’s 156,000 additional packages delivered or $975,000 in labor costs saved each year.
Prominent building numbers and blended aerial imagery in our navigation maps help drivers know exactly where they should go once they exit a van — even when this context isn’t visible from street-level. These settings are tunable so developers can customize the experience for exactly what their drivers need.
We develop our navigation products hand-in-hand with delivery drivers and logistics operators around the world. If you’re moving packages or people, hit me up at matt@mapbox.com to share feedback on our tools and get ideas on how Mapbox can make your team more efficient.
