Open mapping revolution at the Open Government Partnership Summit

OpenStreetMap and open geo data will be a major topic at the upcoming Open Government Partnership Summit in Mexico City October 27th - 29th. The gathering of 66 signatory countries and civil society committed to accountability, transparency, and open data comes at the heels of the United Nations ratification of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development Data. Open geospatial data is one of the key data priorities within the Global Goals.

Open data commons like OpenStreetMap fundamentally transform how citizens and governments collaborate around data. There is a real opportunity to make more crucial data available to all, improve data quality, and drastically lower the cost of data maintenance for government.
