It is an honor to welcome Dan, the newest member of the Directions team! Joining the team from Coeur d'Alene, ID, Dan gained a love of mapping while developing the real-time GPS tracking systems that power SkiTrails. Originally from Melbourne, Australia he has adventured and skied across many of the high ranges of North America.
Dan has made major open source contributions to the Mapnik project and is comfortable programming in multiple languages including Python, C/C++, Java and Lua. He also fills an important niche at Mapbox with his extensive COBOL knowledge. He will be diving into advanced routing algorithms and data processing with the goal of enabling real-time inputs to routing decisions.
