There was a break in the clouds over Mount Everest for the first time since the avalanches, allowing a satellite to snap the first shots over the North and South Base Camps. The scenes were first identified by Kevin Bullock while reviewing imagery from DigitalGlobe’s most high resolution 30cm commercial satellite - WorldView 3.

South Base Camp: Nepal (28°0′26″N 86°51′34″E)

At least 18 people died in the area of the camp, which is 18,000 feet above sea level. April 27, 2015 New York Times

North Base Camp: Tibet (28°8′29″N 86°51′5″E)

The North Base Camp is accessed via 100 km road from the Friendship Highway.
