We’re turning tonight’s kickoff event for the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) Summit into a fundraiser to support relief mapping efforts by our friends at Kathmandu Living Labs. Mapbox and DigitalGlobe will be matching all donations.

Head to the Mapbox garage tonight at 7:00pm EST (see map below) to meet the HOT and Mapbox teams and show your support for the Nepal earthquake response.

Since April 25, the Kathmandu Living Labs team has worked non-stop to map the hardest-hit parts of Nepal, validate damage and casualty reports, and get print and offline maps into the hands of relief workers. Their office has become a combination situation room and shelter, and Kathmandu Living Labs needs resources to hire additional temporary staff, purchase basic equipment, and keep the lights on.

Prior to the earthquake, Kathmandu Living Labs was doing amazing work to help manage their city’s rapid urban growth and improve disaster resiliency through a combination of technology and civic engagement, including massive contributions to OpenStreetMap’s Nepal data.

See you tonight at the garage. Everyone’s welcome.
