Blake Thompson is joining the Mapbox team! Blake will be diving into the development of our open source vector tile pipeline. He will be improving the performance and flexibility of Mapnik’s vector tile implementation, which powers the tiles behind both Mapbox GL and Mapbox Studio.
Blake previously designed weather related back-end systems that provide low-latency and real-time visualizations of data, world-wide forecasting, alerting, and forensics. He has experience programming in C, C++, Python, Javascript, PHP and SSE and has contributed to open source libraries like GDAL and Mapnik.
