GeoLadies — this is an open invitation to join the OpenStreetMap community. Like many technology communities, OpenStreetMap has more dudes than ladies. But what makes OpenStreetMap great is that people are proactive about being welcoming to everyone. The last US conference was made up of 20% women. I don’t believe this reflects the true number of women who care about these open data, hot maps, and OpenStreetMap. Let’s change this.
We have scholarships specifically targeted to women for the next OpenStreetMap conference, in Washington, DC April 12 & 13. If you use or contribute to OpenStreetMap, or are just passionate about building an open map of the world, you should apply. The deadline is this Sunday, but the application process is short. Even if you can’t make the conference, join OpenStreetMap and get involved in your area or online.
