Deferred payments, coupons, and skilled volunteers for the response to COVID-19

By: Mikel Maron

Costs and technical barriers shouldn’t stop developers from responding to the COVID-19 crisis in real time, so if you’re building anything to respond to this virus and need assistance with pricing or expert support, reach out to our Community team. Whether it’s supply chain applications to coordinate community pick-up of PPE supplies, visualizing community resources for food and supplies, or organizing campaigns to support local businesses that have closed their doors — we will help anyone building for the COVID-19 pandemic respond quickly.

Here are just a few ways how we are helping our global partners and customers use location tools in their decision-making and communication related to COVID-19.

Case Data Visualization by the New York Times and The Weather Channel

Access to our tools and data. If you experience a spike in usage from a high-traffic COVID-19 map, or need to run large scale accessibility analysis, we can help — cost should not block the use of our tools during a public health emergency.

Data visualization volunteer-consultants. If you are developing public visualizations, we can offer our expertise to help you communicate accurately and effectively with your target audiences. Maps are incredibly effective communication tools but can be misleading when used incorrectly and inadvertently spread misinformation. Read our cartographic guidance for public health maps.

Dashboard building assistance. If you are building internal decision-support tools, or lack the resources to do so, Mapbox is offering help with building map integrated dashboards with Tableau, PowerBI, and other tools.

Guidance on data management workflows. If you are grappling with questions about data quality, completeness, recency, or other data pipeline questions, we can share our experience with COVID-19 data sources and advice on data pipeline infrastructure.

Mobility Analysis Collaboration. Our traffic data, telemetry density data, and accessibility tools can be analyzed to determine changes in mobility, anomalies, and assess the impact of interventions. Read more about what telemetry data tells us.

Our maps have been deployed for case data visualization by Boston Children’s Hospital, The Weather Channel, and New York Times; local support services by World Central Kitchen, Mutual Aid Hub, OurStreets, and others; health system analysis and advisories by World Bank, Covid Care Map, and CDC; and mobility analysis by BuzzFeed and Publico.

Please get in touch with the Community team if we can help you with location tools for COVID-19. Let us know what problem you are working on, what you are trying to build, your team’s capabilities, and how Mapbox can help. Our team will work to understand your exact needs and potentially collaborate to best support what you’re building right now.
