Strava just launched personalized route suggestions powered by massive amounts of data and curated by the community. The new maps give routes for both running or riding while giving the flexibility to set intended distance, select a “hilly” or “flat” elevation change, and see a personalized ETA based on recent speed from past workouts.
Toggling on the heatmap overlay reveals the popularity of each section of the route so you can learn when to expect steep climbs or changes in the road surface like going from paved to dirt.
There is also a “Build Your Own Route” feature that just launched in beta letting athletes mark a stretch of the map to cover in a workout and Strava will match it to popular roads and trails. Check it out by hitting the Explore button in the app, and if you don’t already have a subscription to access the premium features in Strava Summit, start a free trial to dive in.
