Fulcrum + Mapbox Atlas: A total location solution for the field
By: Anthony Calamito
I could not be more excited today to announce our strategic partnership with Spatial Networks, integrating Mapbox Atlas and Fulcrum to enable an end-to-end mapping solution for field users in a wide variety of scenarios, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and military planning.
I’ve known the Spatial Networks team for a long time, and they do some really amazing work to support users in a variety of different missions and verticals. Their Fulcrum application is one of the leading mobile form and field collection applications on the market today, used by over 110,000+ users in over 180+ countries. Fulcrum was integral in supporting relief efforts following hurricanes Irma, Harvey, and Maria, working with the Red Cross to assess tornado damage in Illinois, and performing preliminary damage assessment after the wildfires in Santa Barbara, CA.
More on the integration from our announcement today:
The partnership features product and service integrations aimed at empowering government and industry organizations to answer their most difficult questions with location-based data. Fulcrum, an iOS and Android application from Spatial Networks, is designed to create mobile forms and aid in fast, easy data collection in the field. With this partnership, Fulcrum now integrates with Mapbox Atlas, a live location platform that enables mapping, geocoding and routing that can be deployed on-premises or in a hybrid online/offline set-up.
Following a hurricane, for example, an Atlas Field Kit with Fulcrum could be rapidly deployed to support search & rescue efforts. This enables first responders, aid organizations, and insurance adjusters to collect accurate data and begin mapping the road to recovery quickly and without complexity.
While our partnership will allow us to work in many different capacities, our initial focus is the technical integration between Fulcrum and our new Atlas Field Kit— a complete solution to run Mapbox Atlas anywhere. Combining Fulcrum with Atlas will give users an unprecedented ability to collect data in the field, and have it update the base maps in Atlas in near real-time.
This integration will be key to humanitarian agencies, non-profits, NGOs, or Government entities who need a location solution in disadvantaged environments. Now combined with the accuracy, speed, and cartography of Mapbox base maps, there is no easier way to spin up a total location solution than using the Atlas Field Kit with Fulcrum. Everything you need, just add power.
We’re thrilled to be partnering with the mission-driven team at Spatial Networks, to help make critical field-work a little easier for those on the ground. Stay tuned for more from our partnership as the year goes on.
