Custom process your high-resolution satellite, drone, and aerial imagery

From our satellite layer: high-resolution imagery of Barcelona’s Eixample district. Imagery: Digital Globe.

🚨Attention imagery analysts 🚨 Does your imagery workflow still involve local files, ftp sites, and hard drives? Do you struggle to share files internally and externally while you’re working on visual and analytic projects? Have you ever thought, there must be a better way?

There is. When you upload large imagery files to our platform, they’re easily accessible in a tiled format with secure distribution protocols for mobile, web, gaming and automotive platforms. There are a few different ways to get your drone, aerial, and satellite imagery onto our platform:

GUI Uploads from Studio

From your Studio interface, click the New tileset button to bring up the upload callbox. This is best for single images or small processing jobs.

Uploads API

The Uploads API is similar to our GUI interface but allows you to programmatically upload images one-by-one to your account. This is best for single images or batch processing. The Uploads API has a 10GB file size limit for imagery uploads.

Maximum size limits for our Uploads API. If you want to upload more imagery than these limits allow, talk to us about enterprise uploads!

Enterprise Uploads

In the first quarter of 2018, we processed 56 million square kilometers of high-resolution imagery for enterprise customers — that footprint is larger than the entire Asian continent imaged at 50cm resolution or higher.

The world’s leading satellite imagery provider, Digital Globe, tapped us to power their Maps API platform. 3DR, the drone imaging company, uses our tech to power Site Scan — its own high-resolution imagery platform.

Mapbox plays an integral role in our product. The first thing our customers see when they log into Site Scan is a high-resolution map with satellite and street data. They can then easily view their drone imagery directly on the map, providing a complete view of their projects anywhere in the world. We went with Mapbox because it enables our customers to easily access high-resolution global imagery. We also loved its ease of use and having the ability to customize our basemaps in our own, unique style — Jess Lam, Director of Product at 3DR

Once you’ve uploaded and processed your imagery, you can access:

  • Out-of-the-box access control and usage reporting for all map endpoints
  • Sub-50 millisecond tiled data retrieval
  • Globally redundant infrastructure and offline caching capabilities

On top of that, our suite of APIs lets you analyze imagery and add styling elements, customized labels, zooming/panning, and vector layers.

For small processing jobs create an account in Studio. If your business is uploading large amounts of imagery, get in touch with us.
