Announcing new feature updates to our Qt SDK at Qt World Summit
By: Thiago Santos
We’re excited for Qt World Summit 2017 next week, where Bruno Abinader is giving a talk about how you can use the Mapbox GL Qt SDK as part of the Qt Location module. Our plugin renders Mapbox Vector Tiles using the mapbox-gl-native renderer, supporting both online and offline map sources.
Since our first release with Qt 5.9, we’ve added a number of new features for Qt 5.9.2 and Qt 5.10:
- 3D buildings: Create a more detailed experience with extruded 3D buildings, making it easier to orient with your surroundings and pinpoint your exact location.
- Data driven styles: Style features on the map based on properties in the data, providing more flexibility with map customization. For example, style roads using different shades depending on real time traffic congestion data or extrude buildings for charging stations based on how busy they are.
- Smooth transitions between styles: Switch seamlessly between day and night styles or other custom map styles for a more fluid user experience.
- New styles optimized for navigation: Quickly add our new map styles optimized for navigation. They feature carefully curated and styled data, labels that always face the camera, and color pallets tailored to the cockpit.
- Performance optimizations and bug fixes: We’re doing our homework 💪
Here’s a sneak peek, showing smooth transitions between our navigation map styles, as well as 3D building extrusions in action:
