When you’re adding POI’s with JOSM, the default map paint style can make it hard to see the POI’s already mapped. I found this awesome osmic-josm-style plugin that enables icons on all POI’s.
This style only affects POI icons. You will still need the JOSM standard style (or any other) enabled.
How to enable POI style
Go to JOSM’s preferences, select the 3rd icon from the top, select Map Paint Styles Tab, then select Osmic.
